PM Modi’s Big Independence Day Announcement: 1 Crore Youth to Get AI Training, Free Coaching for Exams

Prime Minister Narendra Modi made several major announcements for India’s youth during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort on Saturday.

The biggest announcement was a plan to provide artificial intelligence training to one crore, or 10 million, young people. The government will also create a free online coaching network for students preparing for competitive examinations.

AI Training for 1 Crore Youth

PM Modi said AI skills will play an important role in India’s future as technology continues to change the way people work and businesses operate.

The government plans to train one crore youth through AI skilling programmes over the coming year. The announcement comes after the India AI Impact Summit held in February, which was highlighted by the Prime Minister during his speech.

Modi said technology, innovation and digital technologies will be one of the key strengths needed to build a developed India by 2047.

He pointed to areas such as AI, robotics, quantum technology, space technology and data centres as important parts of India’s next phase of growth.

The focus on AI training is also aimed at giving young Indians skills that can be useful as demand for technology-related jobs grows.

Free Online Coaching for Competitive Exams

In another major announcement, Modi said the government will provide free online coaching for various competitive examinations.

The plan is aimed at helping young people who are preparing for exams but may find private coaching expensive.

Modi said India’s existing digital infrastructure and large pool of teachers and educators can be used to build the online coaching network.

The announcement is expected to be important for students preparing for government jobs and other competitive examinations, where coaching costs can add to the financial pressure on families.

The Prime Minister also spoke about India’s youth being central to the goal of creating a Viksit Bharat by 2047. He said young people will be among the biggest beneficiaries of a developed India and will also play a major role in achieving that goal.

Sports, Semiconductors and Nuclear Power

Modi also announced a nationwide sports talent hunt for children between 5 and 15 years of age. The programme will look for young talent across villages and cities and help develop them further.

On technology and manufacturing, the Prime Minister said seven to eight semiconductor plants are expected to become operational over the next one to two years.

He also set a target of 100 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2047, with five new nuclear reactors expected to become operational within the next six to seven years.

The Prime Minister further announced plans to build a modern Civil Defence volunteer network with updated training and capabilities to deal with new security and emergency challenges.

Modi said these steps are part of the broader plan to make India a developed nation by 2047.

His Independence Day speech placed a strong focus on youth, technology, manufacturing, agriculture, education and innovation, with the government presenting these areas as important parts of India’s long-term development plan.
